People

Promote fair, humane working conditions, support social initiatives, and foster diversity and inclusion in the outdoors.

The great outdoors connects us to nature, our souls, and each other.

Marmot’s people-based initiatives are centered this core values:

  1. We conduct business with integrity and compassion.
  2. We’re advocates for the well-being of our employees.
  3. We believe the outdoors is for everyone, regardless of race, ethnicity, gender identification, sexual orientation, body shape, or fitness level.
  4. We foster a love for the outdoors and access to wild places.
  5. We support our local communities.
1. Fair Labor Practice and Working Conditions >

Protecting and promoting the well-being of the people who make the products we sell is a core component of our business. In partnership with our parent company, Newell Brands, Marmot holds our suppliers and vendors to a strict code of conduct mandating safe working conditions, fair and legal hiring, scheduling, compensation, and other worker-protection practices. Our vendors are subject to a regular regimen of on-site audits to ensure their compliance.

2. Employee Volunteerism and Philanthropy >

Our employees devote thousands of hours of volunteer time through a variety of programs, supporting local, national, and international nonprofits. Marmot’s donation-matching program has made it possible for employees to multiply their contributions to organizations like Catholic Charities, Guide Dogs for the Blind, Vail Veterans Program, and B-Rad Foundation.

3. Human Trafficking and Slavery >

We do not and will not work with any suppliers who engage in human trafficking and/or slavery, forced/prison labor, or child labor. Consistent to this commitment, the California Transparency in Supply Chains Act takes aim at eliminating slavery and human trafficking from global supply chains. The CTSC Act requires companies that do business in California to disclose their efforts to ensure their supply chain is free of human rights violations.

4. Employee Health and Wellness >

Marmot believes that healthy living and outdoor recreation are inherently connected. From onsite boot camp workouts and yoga sessions to soccer and baseball teams, Marmot sponsors weekly outings for our employees to stay active and balance the demands of personal and professional life.

5. Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion >

Marmot is committed to hiring and supporting a diverse workforce and to representing the true diversity of the outdoor participant community. We were the first company to sign the Outdoor CEO Diversity Pledge, which pairs outdoor brands with inclusion advocates in order to advance representation for people of color across the industry.

6. Emergency Response Efforts >

Marmot tents, sleeping bags, and clothing can make a tangible difference for those affected by disaster. From assisting those displaced by California wildfires to supplying tents and sleeping bags to earthquake victims in the Himalayas, we work with governments and NGOs to supply and deliver our products where they can help save lives.
