This search and rescue tool helps locate adventurers faster whether they’re trapped in avalanches or lost in whiteout conditions.
What Is It?
For always-on avalanche safety, our snowsports gear is equipped with built-in RECCO reflectors that make you searchable by organized rescue teams searching with RECCO detectors on foot and in the air. The technology functions as a two-part system.
How Does It Work?
First, the detector emits a radar signal like the beam of a flashlight. When it hits a reflector, it echoes back and tells the rescuers where to look. The stronger the signal, the closer it gets to the wearer’s exact location.*
What Are the Benefits?
No Setup: Requires no power or activation to function.
Factory Mounted: Unlikely to be torn off in an avalanche or accident.
Lightweight: Each reflector weighs less than four grams.
Global Standard: Carried by professional rescue teams worldwide.
To Sum It Up
Wearing ski and snowboarding jackets, snow and ski pants, and other gear with RECCO technology ensures you stay safe on your most epic winter adventures. Whether you’re shredding at a ski resort or earning your turn in the backcountry, it makes you searchable to professional rescuers in the event of an emergency. When a RECCO detector finds a RECCO reflector, an alert is signaled and directs mountain rescue teams to the wearer’s location. In addition to on-foot searches, RECCO detectors are used from air to scan large areas for the quickest response possible. The tech is used in over 25 countries, so you’re covered all over the powder world.
*RECCO reflectors do not substitute the tools necessary for companion rescue like an avalanche beacon, personal transceiver, or probes and shovels.
